Hello, My name is Holly. I am 36, I grew up in the Suffolk Countryside but am now settled in Colchester, Essex. I live here with my husband and two small boys (aged 1 and 4). Live is busy for us, our boys are crazy but so much fun! The 1 year old has recently taken his first steps so life is about to get a whole lot busier!
I work as a Virtual Assistant, giving time back to businesses by taking on their admin, particularly finance admin. I work from home offering services such as invoicing, credit control, account reconiliation, expenses management, data entry & management, typing, document creation, proofreading and editing.
I also provide social media management and blog assistance. I am currently supporting my local foodbank by managing their Instagram page and assisting with Facebook. I also assist with fundraising applications.
After having worked in an office environment, mostly within Finance, for over 18 years. I have gained so many valuable skills, but I felt that I could put them to better use helping a range of businesses. After having my children I felt that working from home would give me the best work/life balance. This is how my VA business was launched.
I enjoy getting messy accounts in order and up to date. If I am given a list of outstanding payments I enjoy the challenge of getting as many of them cleared as possible. Give me a spreadsheet and I’ll be kept happy!
I only launched my business in November 2018 so it’s still early days, I had prepared myself for it to take a while to gain clients but I do find this my biggest challenge. I have the experience, skillset and knowlegde required but to get noticed is difficult. I am doing a lot of networking both online and in person to get my business out there.
I am currently running my business alongside a part time job as a Senior Finance Administrator, my dream is to get enough work in the business to go full time with it.
I was introduced to Bizmums by a fellow VA. We met through a facebook group and met up for a coffee, I told her I was struggling to find networking events to attend due to childcare, and she told me that Bizmums is the perfect solution to this as you can take your children with you.
