Hi, I am Jane and my business is called Jane Brant Virtual Assistant. This means that I provide business and admin support remotely working from home. I work with small businesses, charities, therapists and entrepreneurs working on a wide range of tasks to support their business. My services include website maintenance, newsletter writing and maintenance, setting up and maintenance of spreadsheets and databases, events/marketing/social media support and much more. I love to work in this way as it gives me the greatest flexibility to fit my work around my family. I can get work done while they play and when they have gone to bed. I just need a computer and a Wi-Fi connection and I am good to go!

Being a virtual assistant appealed to me as I thought about what I enjoyed about my previous roles before I was a mum. I was a PA in a variety of organisations but mostly within the charity/not for profit sector. My best roles were within smaller charities where there was a requirement to be a bit of a Jill-of-all-trades as there wasn’t the money for lots of staff in specialised roles. So I got to do a lot of different projects, giving me a great variety in my work life but also a great spread of skills to draw on. I organised AGMs for smaller charities, and organised fringe events for bigger organisations, I project managed the production of an annual report and was a marketing assistant on secondment for a while. I also organised the sponsorship for a staff awards event as well as researching and procuring a change in IT provider.

I am mum to two daughters Ailsa and Seffy who are soon to be 6 and 4 years old. We enjoy going out on adventures together. We may get on the bus to explore a local wood or country park, jump on the train to visit museums in bigger towns/cities or spend a few days away at a Youth Hostel somewhere. I love to take my camera with me as I am currently trying to develop my photography skills, and hope that one day I will have another business using these skills. We all enjoy being by the sea (I used to work as a ships cook before children) and so we go to the beach as often as we can.

My big aspiration for my business is to grow my client base and develop my skills so that in 3 – 4 years’ time we can take some time out and go traveling for a while and I can still work enough along the way.
