I’m Livi and I’ve lived on the Wirral for about 17 years now. I have two children, a husband, and a house full of pets.
Until April this year I had been in a company for over a decade. However, the work life balance was awful so I resigned. My first thought was getting an income; as I’ve always been mad about animals, and often thought about setting up a pet care business, I decided to go for it. I am now the proud owner of ‘Wirral Whiskers’. Predominantly I will focus on cat and small pet sitting as well as dog walking.
I’ve had various animal care experience including cat fostering, veterinary receptionist and pet sitting. Qualification wise, I have a BSc in Animal Behaviour and Welfare and an HND in Welfare of Animals (Management).
As soon as left home, I had a variety of mice, rats and hamsters. At one point I had 30 mice! My most crazy adventure was house sitting and looking after 7 dogs for ten days. Animals I’ve had over the years include birds, fish, rats, mice, African soft furred rats, guinea pigs, rabbits, ducks, all sorts of hamsters and last but not least, cats. I’ve also had experience with reptiles and snakes. One day I hope to have a few pygmy goats and some alpacas.
Although it is quite scary at the moment trying to get known in the area and publicise my business, it is lovely being with my family. I love being here to enjoy the simple things such as picking them up from school and hearing about their day. I can work around the children.
My hobby (other than animals) is aerial circus. I have been very fortunate to have some paid supply circus work. There are quite a few aerial venues on the Wirral and in Liverpool so I hope this work will increase.
The help I’ve had on the Facebook group and the local meet ups with BizMums has been fabulous. It’s great just knowing someone is there to ask questions. I’ve only been a member about a month but the ladies have been so friendly. Just what I needed! Thank you.
