Hi, I'm Kirstie the host of Nantwich BizMums
I'm married to Matt and we have a son James, born Sept 2012. I feel really lucky that I have a job that allows me to spend time with James while he is young. I enjoy taking him to music classes, toddler groups and meeting up with friends.
I am a portrait photographer, my business is called Kirstie Edwards Photography. My passion is capturing special times and creating memories for people. I have more recently been concentrating on business headshots and I particularly enjoy working with business people and feel that I can help them relax quickly and produce images that they like and that capture their personality in a short space of time. It also fits in really well with family life.
I have always enjoyed taking photographs but I decided to train professionally as a photographer after Matt and I were in a car accident in 2007. During my recovery, I took the opportunity to attend some courses and started taking family portraits for friends, this then developed into the occasional wedding and the business photography side has developed more recently. I really enjoy what I do and always feel honoured when clients choose me to shoot their family as it grows or feel comfortable enough with me to photograph them for their website. I love photographing people!
My biggest challenge at the moment is fitting everything in! Juggling work with a toddler and everything else involved with running a home is very challenging. I also volunteer as a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter at my local hospital when I have any spare time which I find very rewarding.
I found out about BizMums during the early part of 2014 through Facebook and saw there was an event happening locally which I decided to attend. I met Michelle and Stacey there and they were both very welcoming and friendly. I love the idea that I can bring James along with me to meetings, so I don't need to find childcare for him in order to go networking. Everyone is in the same situation so they all understand and support each other with balancing work and family life. I have grown in confidence since joining, have met some really lovely people and made great friends too. The private members Facebook group in particular I've found brilliant and a great way of getting to know other BizMums that I don't bump into at meetings. A place to share successes, find solutions to problems and pick up all sorts of useful information not just about my business.
I was really pleased to be asked to host the Nantwich group which started in May. I enjoy meeting like minded women and helping them make connections. I love the informal feel to BizMums meetings and that there is no hard sell , we all get our turn to talk about what we do and then it is up to each of us to approach others as and when we are ready to use their products/services or recommend them to others. It's a very supportive and encouraging environment which is ideal for Mums who are maybe just starting out in business.
